Marching Band |
Concert band |
Marching Band officially starts with band camp in the late summer. It's usually the last week of July & first week of August from 8am-5pm weekdays. At band camp they learn how to march and the new show. Marching band performs at all home football games, the Bonner Springs Music competition (during the school day) and 3 other competitions out of town in October. Additionally, they march in a few parades, typically Tiblow Days and BLHS Homecoming. During Friday night football games, students will stay at school all day and the Band Aides will feed them prior to the game. Food is typically provided at all competitions by the Band Aides as well. Parents are welcome to come and watch or help at any performances! Note that Marching Band is every GREEN day and students must be ON THEIR DOT at 7am sharp.

Concert band begins the class after Marching Band ends and is simply during regular class time. There are numerous competitions through out the rest of the year that the concert band will attend in addition to concerts at BLHS.
Jazz bandJazz Band is a separate class from Marching/Concert Band and is 1st Block on Gold days. Jazz Band becomes PEP BAND during Basketball season. The Jazz Band is typically separated into 2 bands...the Jazz Band taught by Mr. Westbrook is typically underclassmen and the Big Band taught by Mr. Kazmaier is typically upperclassmen. Often they will attend competitions and performances together, but will sometimes perform separately.
